“Don’t touch her.”

Cudd = stud

I have a cousin whose husband is an ultra-marathoner. He runs 100+ mile races in the mountains. When I see Ms. Cudd’s achievement above, and hear of his exploits, it never fails to amaze me that the human body is capable of such things.

And it makes me feel pretty crappy to know how far away my body (and mind) is from achieving similar things - ha! Did feel great to climb a 14er several years back, though...

It is a little disappointing, but that’s what it is.

Good for her, that ruck march is a bitch... I earned mine in Korea.

It doesn’t look like much fun. I’ve done my share of hiking on the Appalachian Trail, but there was never a time limit. Except for sunset.

EFMB is no small feat. Thank you for sharing this.

It wasn’t, it was a brutal weekend I won’t soon forget... I seem to remember the ruck had to be over 50 pounds maybe?

I looked online to see if I could find out how much the combat load is. Since this is the government, and the military in particular, I found a 20+ page PDF outlining the history and specifics down to the nail clippers. I didn’t take the time to read it, though, so I couldn’t find the weight. But it was around 50 lbs I believe.

Found this list, seems about right but I swear I had to carry a ‘tent half’ in my pack. But that was 1992 soooo hah!

I often think back and wish I could have done my military career over. Instead of going Marine, I would have gone Navy to be a Corpsman and then when I reenlisted would have taken a shot at BUDs. Maybe I would have made it, maybe I would be dead, but the glory would have been in the quest for self-empowerment.

I have never served, but I am always amazed at what a dedicated individual, or member of a team, can accomplish. Having seen some programs about BUDS, I wonder if passing the course is harder than the actual missions. I also wonder just how much of the challenge is mental, not physical. But to count yourself among the few who have answered the challenge must be, as you say, incredibly empowering.

Genuinely whenit comes to SEAL life, BUDs is only the beginning.
